ACMSOverview

Mohs surgery is a special type of skin cancer surgery, named after its inventor, Dr. Frederic Mohs. Mohs surgery involves the surgical removal of skin cancer with a special technique where all of the skin margins are evaluated with a microscope. It is a highly specialized procedure for the total removal of skin cancers. Mohs surgery results in the highest cure rate for skin cancer, and removes the minimal amount of tissue necessary.

Our expert physicians at South End Dermatology & Skin Care specialize in Mohs surgery and reconstruction. Dr. Schanbacher and Dr. Nelson are nationally known and respected physicians who are not only Board-certified Dermatologists, but have also completed additional training in Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction at some of the most well known medical institutions in the world, including Harvard, Johns Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic, the University of Southern California (USC), and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). To date, they have safely and effectively treated thousands of skin cancer patients.
